1. Information We Collect

Location data

If you grant location permission, the app uses your device's GPS coordinates to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction. Your approximate location may also be used to detect your country so regional prayer calculation methods can be applied automatically.

• GPS coordinates are processed on your device for prayer time and Qibla calculations.
• GPS coordinates may be briefly sent to OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service to resolve your city name for display.
• If you search for a city manually, your search query is sent to Nominatim to find matching places.
• Your location is not sent to our own servers. It is shared with Nominatim only when needed for city lookup, and is not shared with any third parties for advertising or tracking purposes.

Account information (optional)

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive the following from your Google account through Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication:

• Your display name
• Your email address
• Your profile picture URL
• A unique user ID assigned by Google/Firebase

You can continue to use Deen99 as a guest without signing in. Guest data is stored only on your device unless you later sign in and choose to use synced features.

App data you create or configure

When signed in, the following data you create or configure in the app is synced to Google Firebase (Firestore) under your account so you can access it across devices:

• Your selected app theme, prayer calculation preferences, and Asr method preference
• Your notification settings, including which prayers to alert for
• Your tasbih counts and custom tasbeeh lists
• Your Qaza prayer tracker settings
• Your prayer tracker entries, including marked prayers, focus/mood selection, and optional notes you type
• Your Ramadan mode preference

Some app data is stored locally on your device and may not be synced, such as onboarding state, cached Quran Surahs, Quran bookmarks and continue-reading state, cached or manual location choices, daily goals, custom duas, your Reliable Alerts Mode on/off choice, and local preferences. Guest users' app data is stored in the device's local storage and native preferences.

Deen Circle community content

Deen Circle is an optional community feature available to signed-in users. If you use it, the following information may be stored in Firebase Firestore:

• Posts, comments, replies, likes, and the time they were submitted
• Your Firebase user ID, display name, email address, and profile picture URL
• Photos you intentionally select and attach to a post
• Moderation status and approval information

Submitted posts are sent for administrator review. Approved posts, comments, replies, likes, display names, and profile pictures may be visible to other Deen99 users. Your email address is stored with Deen Circle submissions for account ownership and moderation and may be shown as a fallback author name if your Google account does not provide a display name. Do not submit private, confidential, or sensitive information in public community content.

Analytics and app usage data

Deen99 uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand whether the app is being used and which features need improvement. Firebase Analytics automatically collects app and device usage information, which may include:

• App launches, first opens, sessions, engagement time, app updates, and Android app removals/uninstalls
• The Deen99 feature opened, such as Quran, Qibla, Tasbih, Hadith, or Prayer Tracker
• App version, device model, operating system, language, country or approximate region, and technical identifiers
• App-instance identifiers, such as a Firebase installation identifier. Deen99 disables advertising-ID collection.

The custom feature-use event contains only a fixed feature name. It does not include prayer notes, typed duas, Quran reading text, exact GPS coordinates, or the contents of community posts. Analytics reports are generally viewed in aggregate and are not used by Deen99 to show ads or sell user profiles.

Install identity

The Android app creates a random install identifier and stores it locally in Android's no-backup storage. It is used to detect whether locally restored sign-in or app data belongs to an older installation or another device. This local identifier is removed when the app is uninstalled and is not intentionally sent to our servers.

Quran content

The Arabic Quran text and the English translation are bundled inside the app and load entirely offline — no network request is made to read the Quran. The app only makes a network request in the following cases:

• Audio recitation: When you tap play on an ayah, the app streams the ayah-by-ayah recitation (Al-Afasy) from the Islamic.network CDN. Audio that has been streamed may be cached on your device for offline replay.
• Istiadhah audio: If the istiadhah (audhubillah) intro is enabled, the app streams it from everyayah.com before the recitation begins.
• Rare text fallback: In the very unlikely event that the bundled Quran data fails to load (e.g. corrupted install), the app falls back to fetching the Surah text from AlQuran Cloud, and if that fails, from QuranAPI Pages. In normal use this fallback is never triggered.

For all of the above, the request includes the Surah/ayah number being opened, and the third-party host may receive standard technical information such as your IP address and browser/device network details. None of these requests carry account information, location, or any other personal data.

Error and performance data

To help us identify and fix bugs, Deen99 uses Sentry, a third-party error tracking service. When the app encounters an error, the following information may be sent to Sentry:

• Error message and technical stack trace
• App release, device/browser details, and operating system information
• A pseudonymous user identifier, such as your Firebase UID if signed in, or "guest" if not signed in
• Recent activity breadcrumbs, such as "user switched to Tasbih tab", to help us understand what led to the error

We do not intentionally send your prayer tracker notes, your typed duas, your exact location, your photos, your contacts, or your email address to Sentry. See the Sentry privacy policy for their practices.

External links

Opening external links, such as the Play Store or third-party content providers, may share standard network information with those services.

2. How We Use and Share Information

We use information only to operate, maintain, secure, and improve Deen99. This includes calculating prayer times, providing Qibla direction, scheduling alerts, syncing signed-in data, operating and moderating Deen Circle, providing support, measuring feature usage, and diagnosing errors.

We do not sell or rent personal information. Information may be processed by the service providers listed below only as needed to provide their services. We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the app, to investigate abuse, or as part of a business transfer. Public Deen Circle content is shared with other users by design after moderation.

The optional Support Deen99 page only displays bank and contact details and provides copy buttons. Deen99 does not process payments or collect your banking information when you use those details.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect or store your browsing history on other apps or websites.
• We do not show personalized ads.
• We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.
• We do not access your contacts, camera, microphone, SMS, or call logs.
• We do not collect payment card details, bank login details, or in-app payment credentials.

4. Permissions Deen99 Requests

• Location - Used to calculate accurate prayer times and Qibla direction for your area. You can deny this and enter a location manually if you prefer.
• Notifications - Used to send prayer time alerts and optional prayer-tracker reminders.
• Exact Alarms - Used to schedule notifications at the exact prayer time, not an approximate time.
• Vibration - Used only for notification alerts if vibration is enabled by the device or notification channel.
• Battery optimization settings - The app may show guidance or open Android battery settings so you can optionally allow more reliable prayer notifications. This is not required by default.
• Foreground service & ongoing notification (optional, off by default) - If you turn on the optional "Reliable Alerts Mode" inside the app, Deen99 runs an Android foreground service that keeps a permanent low-priority notification visible. This is used only to keep prayer-time alerts firing on time on phones with aggressive battery-saving or background-app restrictions. The ongoing notification displays only the next upcoming prayer's name and time. The service runs entirely on your device, performs no network activity, and does not collect, read, or transmit any personal data. It restarts after a device reboot only while this mode stays enabled, and you can turn it off at any time from inside the app or by tapping "Stop" on the notification.
• Run after device restart / keep device awake briefly - Used so scheduled prayer alerts can resume after the phone restarts, after app updates, or after time/timezone changes, and so alerts can fire at the exact time. These are used only for prayer-alert scheduling and not for any background data collection.
• Internet - Used to sync signed-in data and Deen Circle content, resolve city names, search manual locations, stream or retrieve Quran content, send analytics and crash reports, and open external support or store links.
• Device orientation/sensors - Used for the Qibla compass where supported. Sensor readings are used on the device and are not stored by us.
• Clipboard - Used only when you tap a copy button, such as copying Hadith text or an app link. Clipboard contents are not read or uploaded by the app.

5. Third-Party Services

Deen99 uses the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy practices:

• Google Firebase Authentication - Provides account login and authentication. Firebase Privacy
• Google Cloud Firestore - Stores synced app data for signed-in users. Firebase Privacy
• Google Analytics for Firebase - Measures app usage, engagement, installs, Android app removals, device/app information, and feature-use events. Firebase Privacy
• Google Sign-In - Used for account creation and login. Google Privacy
• Sentry - Error and crash tracking. Sentry Privacy
• OpenStreetMap Nominatim - Converts GPS coordinates or manual search queries into city/location names. OSMF Privacy
• Islamic.network CDN - Streams ayah-by-ayah Quran audio recitation (reciter: Mishary Rashid Al-Afasy) when you play audio in the Quran reader. Islamic.network
• everyayah.com - Provides the optional istiadhah (audhubillah) audio that plays before reciting a surah. everyayah.com
• AlQuran Cloud - Used only as a rare fallback for Quran text if the bundled offline data fails to load. Also queried for ayah audio URL metadata. AlQuran Cloud Privacy
• QuranAPI Pages - Secondary fallback for Quran text if AlQuran Cloud is unreachable. Rarely used in practice. QuranAPI Pages

6. Data Retention & Deletion

Your data is retained as long as needed to provide the app's features or until you delete it. You can delete your data as follows:

• Guest data: Uninstalling the app generally removes local app data. Some Android devices may keep certain native preference values depending on device backup or OEM behavior.
• Signed-in local data: Signing out removes locally cached prayer tracker entries for that signed-in account from the device.
• Signed-in cloud data: To permanently delete your Firebase/Firestore data, email us using the contact information below. We will delete your cloud data within 30 days.
• Deen Circle content: You can delete your own approved posts and comments where the app provides a delete option, or contact us to request removal of community content and associated profile information. Copies may remain temporarily in backups or moderation records.
• Prayer tracker entries: You can delete individual tracker entries inside the app.
• Cached Quran/location data, Quran bookmarks, custom duas, and daily goals: These are stored locally to make the app faster and keep your preferences available, and can be removed by clearing app data or uninstalling the app.
• Error data in Sentry: Error reports are retained according to Sentry project settings and are intended only for debugging and app reliability.
• Analytics data: Firebase Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings configured for the Firebase/Google Analytics property. Aggregate reports may remain after individual identifiers expire or are deleted.

7. Children's Privacy

Deen99 does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate permission. Deen Circle is a public-facing community feature and should not be used by children to submit personal information. Parents or guardians who believe their child's data or community content may have been collected can contact us to request deletion.

8. Security

We rely on Google Firebase's security infrastructure to help protect signed-in account data. Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is 100% secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent by signing out, disabling permissions, clearing app data, or uninstalling the app
• Request removal of Deen Circle posts, comments, profile information, and other content associated with your account

10. Changes to This Policy

If we update this policy, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top and, for material changes, we will notify users through the app or another reasonable method. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
